Family Life

It is extremely important that we do not forget the importance of family. Family is often overlooked in many ways in modern America. For example:
  • Children are sent to public schools while the mother seeks a career, etc.
  • In the meantime, children are being taught a humanistic and/or secular worldview of things.
  • Father's are over-working in their particular field, and spending no quantity or quality time with either their wife or children.
  • The television (or mobile device) takes precedent over Bible readings and Scripture studies.
  • The family table is seldom if ever gathered around by the actual family.
  • I should also add that many couples have even opted to not have a family, thinking it better to remain childless.
All of the above points are contrary to Scripture. I recognize that my comments are not politically correct, but this should not matter to the genuine Christian. We should seek with our whole heart to be Biblically correct on all matters, and this undeniably includes the realm of family. Here are 6 "counter-points" to those un-Biblical ones stated above:
  • Children are homeschooled or given solid, Biblically based teaching at a proper Christian school. The mothers are home-makers as Titus 2:4 commands.
  • Even subjects such as arithmetic and language are taught from a Biblical perspective. This engrains a Biblical worldview in the children from the youngest of age.
  • Father's work to provide, but recognize that it is vain to only labor for meat that perishes (John 6:27). The Father takes the command in Deuteronomy 6:4-9 seriously.
  • Families spend more time reading and studying Scripture, and less time watching the television or looking through their mobile device (Psalm 1).
  • Families actually do use the kitchen table for meals, and take time to talk about their daily activities, as well as discuss Scripture.
  • Couples recognize that they should be fruitful and multiply as Genesis 1 teaches. They realize that children are a heritage of Yahweh, and are as arrows in the hands of the mighty man as David taught in the Psalms.
Let us men take the initiative in our families. If we do not live it in our homes, how do we expect to be a light to the world?
